Vogue Exclusive: A Morning with Germany’s Leading Actresses Ahead of the German Film Awards
On the morning of the German Film Awards in Berlin, we had the pleasure of producing an exclusive editorial shoot with four of Germany’s most celebrated actresses: Heike Makatsch, Collien Fernandes, Gizem Emre and Laura Tonke. Before stepping onto one of the country’s most prestigious red carpets, the four talents came together for an intimate morning of photography, conversation, and celebration, capturing a powerful moment in contemporary German cinema.
Set against the iconic backdrop of Borchardt, the editorial reflected the spirit of the occasion: elegant, confident, and thought-provoking. Inspired by their accompanying Vogue feature, the shoot highlighted the evolving representation of women on screen and the growing demand for more authentic, multidimensional female characters. Bringing together four actresses from different generations and creative backgrounds, the production offered a compelling portrait of women who continue to shape and redefine the industry.
The atmosphere throughout the morning was both warm and inspiring. Between portraits and conversations, the actresses shared perspectives on storytelling, creative freedom, and the importance of moving beyond familiar stereotypes. The resulting images capture not only the glamour of the German Film Awards, but also the strength, intelligence, and individuality that define each of these remarkable women.
